With escalating bandwidth requirements in long-haul and submarine DWDM networks, operators and service providers are looking at ways to optimize traffic flow and capacity. Flexible rate transceivers can be used to provide more efficient use of fiber spectrum, resulting in higher capacity and delaying the need to add spectrum or use new fiber.
