IHS Markit global operator surveys find that 70% of operators worldwide will deploy or likely will deploy CORD; and 65% likely will deploy enterprise CORD (E-CORD) in order to offer NFV-based managed enterprise services including firewall, VPNs, WAN optimization control, and other applications. CORD, or Central Office Re-architected as a Data center (DC), is designed to attain DC economics and cloud agility based on technologies including network functions virtualization (NFV), software-defined network (SDN), disaggregated hardware, white box servers and switches, and open source software—essentially a mini-DC in a “smart CO”. Service providers including AT&T, China Unicom, Comcast, Deutsche Telekom, SK Telecom, Telefónica, Verizon, and NTT Communications have developed standard templates of software and hardware for use in enterprise, residential, and mobile networks. Yet, operators are just starting to deploy CORD in their networks. This webinar will present the latest findings, best practices, and case studies for deploying in a smart CO the various CORD configurations possible, including:
• E-CORD for enterprise services
• M-CORD for mobile core and mobile edge computing
• R-CORD for residential services
• Tradeoffs in when and where to deploy CORD, and how to get started
