4K and 8K TV Broadcasting Begins in JapanDecember 03, 2018On December 1st, the first 4K and 8K TV broadcasts were launched by NHK, available via two satellite channels. 4K broadcasts will be available for 18 hours daily while 8K will be available for 12 hours daily. Return of the Disruptive Business Model: Xiaomi TVOctober 25, 2018Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi entered the TV business in 2017, and has grown rapidly, rising to #1 in total unit shipments in China during Q2'18. TV sets excluded form China TariffsJune 15, 2018On June 15th, the US Office of the Trade Representative released the final document indicating which of the more than 1,300 products were to be included in tariffs against Chinese imports. The final list included more then 800 products, and an additional 280 were proposed pending public comment, totaling $50 billion in imports.
