CommScope to Acquire Arris for $7.4B, Creating Cable Industry Heavyweight Poised for the FutureNovember 28, 2018US telecommunications equipment maker CommScope will acquire Arris, in a $7.4B deal valued at $5.69 billion, with the difference comprised of CommScope’s assumption of Arris’s debt. As part of the deal, the Carlyle Group will make a $1M equity investment in CommScope for an approximate 16% stake in the new company. CommScope’s CEO Eddie Edwards has claimed the two companies’ product lines are complementary, and that the combined company will “enable end-to-end wired and wireless communications infrastructure solutions that neither company could otherwise achieve on its own.” The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2019.Subscribers Only

Chinese Microcontroller Market to Expand by Two Thirds by 2015March 30, 2011Owing to a strong industrial sector and rising sales of consumer electronics devices, China’s microcontroller (MCU) market is expected to reach $4.7 billion in revenue by 2015, up more than two-thirds from $2.8 billion in 2010, according to new IHS iSuppli research.
“Government plans designed to stimulate growth in the electronics business helped the China MCU market post robust growth last year, up 40 percent from $1.9 billion in 2009,” said Alex Liu, analyst for China electronics research at IHS. -
China’s Power MOSFET Grows in 2010 but Will Slow Down Next YearJanuary 10, 2011Amid a more than 50 percent boom in sales and constrained production in 2010, China is facing allocation and lead time extensions for certain power metal–oxide semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) from major suppliers such as Infineon Technologies, STMicroelectronics and Fairchild Semiconductor, according to new IHS iSuppli research.
The power MOSFET market in China will expand to $2.4 billion in 2010, up 53 percent from $1.6 billion in 2009.
