Comcast to deploy DOCSIS 3.1 gatewayMay 28, 2015Comcast is to deploy a DOCSIS 3.1 gigabit Home Gateway. It will also be compatible with Comcast’s current hybrid fiber-coax network, and is backwards compatible with the current DOCSIS 3.0 infrastructure. The gateway will be capable of delivering gigabit bandwidth speeds over dual channel 802.11n/ac Wi-Fi, and will feature Reference Design Kit Broadband software. Comcast plans to deploy the equipment on a wide scale in 2016. ARRIS and Compal Networks will both contribute in manufacturing the device.Subscribers Only

China’s cable TV operators to focus on multiscreen TVMay 05, 2015The 23rd China Content Broadcasting Network (CCBN) took place in Beijing from March 24 to 28. China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film, and Television (SAPPRFT) used the show communicate new strategic directions for the development of China’s TV broadcasting. The government is encouraging cable TV operators to upgrade their networks to support multiscreen TV services to connected devices, now that TV digitization is almost complete. Verizon to launch 802.11ac router with 300Mbps Wi-FiMay 20, 2014Verizon plans to deploy a proprietary router that will support in-home Wi-Fi speeds up to 300Mbps. This router will ship in summer 2013 and will complement the Quantum internet service offered on Verizon FiOS with speeds up to 300Mbps.
