Netflix commissions Australian original seriesMay 22, 2017Netflix has commissioned Tidelands, a primetime drama series, as its latest investment in local Australian content. SFR and Altice score European football rights in FranceMay 11, 2017French telecoms group SFR and its parent company Altice has acquired exclusive rights in France to the Champions League and Europa League for €350 million ($380 million) per season for three years starting in 2018/19. Orange buys Groupama Banque in France to launch mobile bankingApril 22, 2016Orange has signed a deal to buy 65% of French bank Groupama Banque, which will be renamed Orange Bank and offer a range of mobile banking services. • Orange will gain 65% while Groupama will keep the remaining 35%. The deal concludes exclusive talks that began in January 2016. • Orange Bank will launch in France at the start of 2017, offering current accounts, savings, loans, insurance and payment services, and aims to attract over 2 million customers. • After France, Orange Bank will be launched in Spain and Belgium. • The companies didn't disclose the value of the deal, which is expected to complete during the third quarter of 2016 subject to regulatory approval. • Groupama Banque currently offers a range of banking products and services, and had more than 530,000 customers at the end of 2015.

Amazon Underground innovates with free apps but faces challengesOctober 07, 2015Amazon’s Underground app program replaces Amazon’s previous “Free app a day” offer which provided one free paid app each day. Launched in September 2015, the new Android app integrates Amazon’s app store, retail, and video services. Amazon Underground’s “Actually free” program provides a dedicated catalogue of apps that are free to download and also have free in-app purchases.
