Unlicensed LPWA technologies loom large at “IoT Asia 2017”May 05, 2017The recent IoT Asia 2017 tradeshow held in Singapore attracted over 4,500 attendees across the entire IoT value chain from over 40 countries over the two-day event. During the show representatives from various companies were especially interested in LPWA technologies, especially unlicensed technologies, such as LoRaWAN and SIGFOX. In Asia Pacific, most vendors deploying LPWA networks early will use NB-IoT, including China Mobile, China Unicom, and KT, all of which will commence with commercial deployments in early 2017. Australia’s Telstra is an exception, having announced that it will start with eMTC first, then follow up with NB-IoT. As Asia continues to embrace LPWA technologies, will it scale fast enough to meet the market demand?Subscribers Only
