TV panel inventory level to remain healthy amid strong TV panel demandNovember 20, 2014IHS forecasts that the TV panel accumulated inventory will rise slightly in the fourth quarter as production will exceed shipments, by a small degree, for the first time since the third quarter of 2013 However, the panel inventory level will remain below normal, at less than 4.0 weeks, because demand exceeded the supply significantly in the second quarter, and the fourth quarter panel supply will remain tight with production just barely exceeding shipments.

IHS revises TV, monitor, and notebook panel shipment forecast upward for the third quarterSeptember 29, 2014IHS has revised its TV panel shipment forecast upward for the third quarter, due to unexpected demand from the Mexican government’s new subsidy project of low-cost 24-inch TVs, along with the gradual pickup of replacement demand in Western Europe, North America, and Japan. Although pre-stocking demand for notebook and monitor panels is gradually slowing, IHS has also revised these shipment estimates upwards due to continued demand from the expiration of Windows XP.

Nippon TV to buy Japanese business of HuluMarch 10, 2014The Japanese division of online video service provider Hulu is to be acquired by Nippon Television Network Corporation in early spring 2014, subject to regulatory conditions and approval. For Nippon TV, which has already made the steps into the OTT world with transactional on-demand service NITTELE on demand and an ad-funded catch-up service, the acquisition of a subscription service such as Hulu serves as a further step into expanding its premium paid-for online video proposition.
