Liberty Global builds cable TV leadership in Poland with Multimedia Polska dealOctober 20, 2016Liberty Global has agreed to acquire Multimedia Polska, the third largest cable company in Poland, through its subsidiary UPC Polska. The deal is valued at PLN 3 billion ($760 million), but Liberty Global warned that the price may be adjusted downwards due to the operational and financial performance of Multimedia Polska prior to closure. Decline for Swiss DVD and Blu-ray Disc consumption and spending continues in 2015April 01, 2016• Switzerland continues to experience sharper decline for both DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) consumption and spending in comparison with its GSA neighbours Germany and Austria. • The over-heating of the Swiss Franc played a major contributing factor in driving decline for physical disc retail consumption and spending in 2015. • Spending on BD retail declined by 15.4% in 2015, down to CHF 41.6 million, driven by a decline in both consumption (-11.9%) and average price (-4%) over 2014. • Between 2010 and 2015, DVD unit sales in Switzerland have declined by a yearly average of 17.9%.Subscribers Only

STMicroelectronics to discontinue STB and home gateway SoC research & development as part of a restructuring moveFebruary 12, 2016Geneva-based electronics and semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics will stop developing new set-top box (STB) and home gateway products. Swisscom deploys G.Fast AccessMay 29, 2015After a period of testing G.Fast technology in April in the small village of Bibern, Swisscom has widened the test to a small portion of its households to G.Fast service, offering speeds up to 500Mbps. Swisscom plans to expand the scale of the G.Fast deployment to all of its Fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) and fiber-to the-street (FTTS) connections from 2016.
