HBO licenses content to Amazon Prime Video in JapanFebruary 05, 2018HBO signed a content deal with Amazon in January 2018 to license 50 HBO series on Amazon Prime Video in Japan. Existing Prime subscribers will be able to watch HBO shows, including Game of Thrones, Silicon Valley, The Sopranos and The Wire, without having to pay an additional fee. HBO content will be available on Amazon Prime Video in Japan starting April 1, 2018. Details on the duration of the deal are undisclosed.

Asian OTT platforms focus on local productionDecember 05, 2017International and local online services are ramping up original production as they roll out to more countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Online services like Hooq, iflix and Viu were high profile at the Asia Television Forum & Market, held in Singapore from 28 November to 1 December last week. Amazon’s head of content for Asia Pacific joined executives from the Asian platforms on a panel session at the event. Executives from Netflix were also in town to negotiate programming deals with local partners.

Netflix to add Indian and Korean to its global original kids slateOctober 20, 2017Netflix announced its first original children's series productions with Indian and South Korean partners at the MipJunior event in Cannes this week. Andy Yeatman, kids and family director, also gave some insight on the importance of children's content to the global streaming service. The two new productions, Mighty Little Bheem and Yoohoo & Friends, are based on established kids characters in each territory and will be launched in 2018.
