London appoints city’s first Chief Digital Officer to reach ambitious goalsAugust 31, 2017On the 25th of August the mayor of London, Mr Sadiq Khan appointed Theo Blackwell as the city’s first Chief Digital Officer (CDO). This announcement provides another sign of a market that is quickly maturing. Theo Blackwell will be London’s first CDO and in its role it will work to fulfil the Mayor’s ambition to transform London in the smartest city on the globe. India unveils 30 more cities winners of the Smart City ChallengeJune 28, 2017India has selected 30 cities in the third round of the Smart City Mission national programme. With this announcement, India has now selected 90 cities, which means that only 10 spots remain for the 20 cities still competing to win the challenge and secure the related funds to launch smart city projects. Total investment for the 90 cities reached INR191,155 crore (USD 29.6 billion). In this round of selection a total of 45 cities competed for 40 available opportunities. However, only 30 cities were selected to ensure feasible and workable plans. As part of the Mission the government will provide INR500 crore (USD77.4 million) to each of the winning cities for a five-year period.Subscribers Only

Shenzhen Water, China Telecom, and Huawei deploy smart water project with NB-IoTMarch 27, 2017Shenzhen Water, China Telecom, and Huawei officially announced the launch of a project in Shenzen which leverages the use of NB-IoT technology enabling smart water metre communications. Shenzhen Water deployed around 1,200 NB-IoT enabled smart water metres in Southern Pearl Garden and other residential areas in the Yantian District of Shenzhen. As part of the project, Shenzhen water has now upgraded its water management system thanks to the water service platform based on China Telecom E-Cloud 3.0.Subscribers Only
