Most US CE Import Tariffs Delayed ... except TVsAugust 13, 2019On August 13th, 2019, the Office of the US Trade Representative announced that it was delaying the implementation of new 10% tariffs on some products that had been scheduled to go into effect on September 1st. Of the $300 billion tranche that was originally to be affected, CE products were some of the most prominent new inclusions, and surely would have impacted prices during the upcoming holiday season. The categories included in the delay entail smartphones, Notebook PCs, tablet PCs, game consoles and desktop monitors, along with other popular holiday shopping goods. However, TVs were not included on the list, and remain to be subject to the additional 10% tariff on September 1st. Of course, this could change.

Top-performing mobile games publishers for July 2019August 13, 2019Tencent maintains its dominance as the highest-performing mobile games publisher according to Priori Data, with $256.8m in net revenue for July. The international version of PUBG Mobile represented $61.9m of this, demonstrating the benefits of Tencent’s recent push into overseas markets following the freeze on games approvals in China.

China Joy 2019: Smartphone manufacturers partner with Qualcomm to enhance vision for mobile gamingAugust 06, 2019During China Joy, Oppo, Vivo, Nubia and Xiaomi presented their latest smartphone models for premium gaming in Qualcomm’s Pavilion. Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon Elite Gaming, a set of hardware and software features that "transform premium mobile devices into gaming machines". The technology is available on these smartphone models, and is powered by the Snapdragon 855.
