Verimatrix acquires Mirimon technology and teamJune 27, 2017Content security firm Verimatrix has acquired Genius Digital’s Mirimon engineering team, technology, and associated IP. The Mirimon stack comprises a set of technologies that allow service providers to harvest data from a range of end-user devices, and from operator-managed consumer premises equipment (CPE) in particular. Verimatrix’s Verspective analytics proposition will integrate the technology. The acquisition’s value is unknown. However, the value of the industry will remained flat at $2.1b, with small declines across both pay and free TV. Cisco held on to the number one CA vendor by both volume and revenue during 2013. STB CA client shipments are expected to grow annually to 2015, followed by a gradual decline in both volume and industry value. In 2013, 5.5m CA Modules (CAMS) were shipped to EMEA and APAC. Swisscom moves multiscreen platform to the main TV screenApril 30, 2014Swisscom has launched a new iteration of its IPTV service, which it has branded TV 2.0. The next generation TV experience employs a set-top box with Android-based Teatro-3.5 software platform from Switzerland’s i-Wedia, and supports network DVR. The box uses Verimatrix VCAS and Microsoft PlayReady for content protection. The STB is powered by Marvell’s ARMADA 1500 Plus system-on-a-chip (SoC), and is 802.11ac Wi-Fi-enabled.

Kudelski to increase market share with Conax acquisitionApril 01, 2014Kudelski, the parent company of Swiss Conditional Access and TV software company Nagravision, is to acquire Conax, the conditional access business of Nordic telecoms and broadcasting company Telenor. Kudelski will pay NOK 1,509M, approximately USD 226M, for Conax and expects to complete the deal within 10 days of announcing the acquisition. This values Conax at 2.4 times its 2013 revenue.
