The latest generation of coherent interfaces with single wavelength data rates up to 600Gb/s is now entering widespread deployment and setting new performance benchmarks. Using real-world use cases, this webinar will explore two key areas of application-specific performance optimization. The first involves advanced technologies, including the industry's first use of Probabilistic Constellation Shaping (PCS) to optimize capacity per wavelength, fiber capacity and optical reach. The second involves the parallel development of coherent optics and power-optimized digital signal processors (DSPs) for small form-factor transponders – ideal for metro and regional applications. With this new bifurcation in coherent optics technology, future coherent developments will no longer be judged by "one-size-fits-all" metrics, such as headline capacity per wavelength.
