After narrowly missing out on entering IHS Markit’s top 10 for 2016 and Q1’17, Nationstar has broken into the top 10 packaged LED rankings for Q2’17.
  • Jamie Fox | August 21, 2017
Strong growth in packaged LED lighting revenue from 2007 to 2014 was the result of consumers replacing incandescent and fluorescent lighting with LED lighting. However, price erosion due to competition and the trend toward less robust, inexpensive 2835 packages caused revenues to decline by 9 percent in 2015, and 1 percent in 2016. Starting in 2017, revenue growth is expected to increase by 3 percent as prices settle.
  • Paul Bremner | August 15, 2017
Despite the fall in prices witnessed over the last five years, LED lamps are estimated to have accounted for only 10.2 percent of global lamp shipments in 2016. However, IHS Markit estimates that by the end of 2022 LED lamps will make up more than 50 percent of global lamp shipments, and reach 70.1 percent of global lamp shipments by the end of 2024.
