Matteo Marchello

Mr. Matteo Marchello is a senior research analyst for Channels & Programming at IHS Markit.

His areas of research include broadcasting rights in sports and TV series. He joined IHS Markit in March 2016 as part of the TV programming team. Previously, he worked as competition economist. Mr. Matteo Marchello holds a Master of Science in Industrial Economics from the University of East Anglia, UK, with a specialization in quantitative methods and one in Economics from the University of Tor Vergata in Rome. He is fluent in Italian, Spanish and English.

KPN wins appeal contesting EU analysis of Ziggo-UPC merger

KPN has won an appeal at the EU general court relating to the European Commission’s (EC) approval of the 2014 acquisition by Liberty Global’s UPC of Ziggo. The appeal was granted on the basis that the European Commission had failed to analyse the market for sports rights and the impact of the merger on the pay TV sports market.
