Heidi Adams

Ms. Heidi Adams is a Sr. Research Director for Transport Networks within the IHS Technology Group.

An experienced leader in the telecommunications industry, Ms. Adams joined IHS in March 2016, bringing over 20 years of product management, marketing, go-to-market strategy and industry analysis expertise to the team. She has been active in introducing to the market new products and solutions that span access, aggregation, edge and core networks for service providers, mobile network operators and large enterprises.

Prior to joining IHS, Ms. Adams was Senior Director, Product Marketing, for Nokia’s IP/Optical Networks group, where she led technical marketing across a broad range of areas including IP routing, virtualized routing/NFV, carrier Ethernet, IP/optical integration, carrier/WAN SDN, mobile backhaul, mobile packet core and packet microwave. She was also Director, Product Line Management, of Alcatel-Lucent’s IP division, and has held roles in product management, technical support and software development for Nortel Networks, Bell Northern Research and IBM.

As the lead analyst for transport networks, including router and optical technologies, at IHS, she is uniquely positioned to assess the impact of emerging cloud-centric residential, business and mobile service architectures on the underlying IP and optical transport network infrastructure. In addition, she provides accurate and objective market sizing, market share and forecasts for this domain, spanning optical networking hardware (WDM, SONET/SDH), OTN transport and switching, packet-optical transport systems, 100G+ coherent optical equipment, IP routers, carrier Ethernet switches and transport SDN segments.

As a consultant to startups, service providers, vendors and the investment community, Ms. Adams helps clients identify new market opportunities and advises on positioning, product development and business plans.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, Ontario, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, Canada.
