Devan Adams

Devan Adams has almost 10 years of experience with network product management and marketing, telecommunications and cloud research. Devan’s current research responsibilities at IHS include data center networking, off-premises cloud services, and software defined networking.

Prior to IHS, Devan Adams was a Market Analyst at Infonetics Research. As a Market Analyst, Devan played an instrumental role in developing Infonetics Research's first cloud service provider tracker. Devan also developed reports covering market share and forecast for data center networks, storage area networks and software defined networks.

Before joining Infonetics, Devan was as a Global Product Manager at Hewlett-Packard (HP) where he defined the 3-year product roadmap for small business networking (SBN) solutions. He also performed in-depth market analysis and developed revenue forecasts for HP SBN sales, accomplishing 90% actuals vs. forecast accuracy. Additionally, he developed creative marketing collateral and videos which significantly increased customer awareness.

Devan has a BS in Electrical Engineering (EE) with a minor in Mathematics and an MBA specialized in market research, both from the University of Cincinnati.

OpenStack Summit 2018: Clouds, containers, and computing take center stage

The OpenStack Summit was held in Vancouver, British Columbia, from 21 to 24 May 2018. Roughly 2,600 people attended this year’s summit, about half of whom are current users. There were over 200 sessions that detailed over 30 open source projects, as well as an Open Infrastructure Marketplace for exhibitors. Companies participating in this year’s summit included cloud service providers (CSPs) Rackspace and Tencent Cloud; telco companies AT&T and Verizon; and cloud management software suppliers Red Hat, Canonical, and Mirantis. Equipment vendors Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Dell EMC, Cisco, Huawei, Arista, Mellanox, F5 Networks, Nokia, Ericsson, and Juniper Networks and silicon merchants Intel, ARM, and Micron were also present.
