Noman Akhtar has a deep technical knowledge of components building up the smart city platform. As the lead analyst for smart cities at IHS Markit, Noman supervises the Smart City IoT Intelligence Service. He has developed a comprehensive understanding of multiple smart city verticals by regions and project partners.
Prior to taking over the Smart Cities IoT Intelligence Service, Noman researched smart/ home appliances and semiconductors within the consumer electronics team. He analyzed market shares and the semiconductor bill of materials of smart appliances including household robots. He also provided the latest technology market trends at global as well as country-level.
Noman also shared his expertise with the industrial semiconductor team leveraging his deep understanding of the semiconductor supply chain. He analyzed the impact of power electronics in smart home/grids evolution and built models for industrial semiconductor applications such as motor drives, process automation, building and home control, medical electronics, transportation and various power and energy systems.
Noman joined IHS Markit in May 2014. Noman holds an Master of Science in Power Engineering specializing in smart home and smart grid electronics from the Technical University of Munich, Germany and a Bachelor or Science in Electronic Engineering from Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, Pakistan. He is based in Munich, Germany.
