Xin Zhang

Ms. Xin Zhang is a senior research analyst for Cinema at IHS Markit.

Ms. Zhang joined IHS, now IHS Markit, in January 2011 as an analyst in the cinema team, undertaking the operational aspects of the Cinema Intelligence service. Previously, she worked in China as an analyst for Lefuhao Entertainment International, tracking media consumption trends.

Ms. Zhang holds a Master of Science in International Management from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK, where she wrote her dissertation on determinants of motion picture box office. Ms. Xin Zhang speaks Mandarin Chinese, English and basic French.

Box office revenue in China reached RMB60.9 bn in 2018, a 9.1% growth year-on-year, according to data from China Film Administration (former SARFT). In total, 1.716 bn cinema tickets were sold during the year, up from 1.62 bn in 2017.
