Michael Markides is an associate director at IHS, in charge of managing market research efforts for the power & energy Group. The group reviews electronics markets within each utility type, providing annual market research studies to utility vendors worldwide. Market coverage includes smart meters, distribution automation, networking, substation automation, and distributed intelligence, as well as utility spend in gas, water and heat networks. Michael is also one of the lead analysts bringing together an IHS-wide smart city offering, providing the energy and utilities perspective on smart city to customers worldwide.

Before his near decade with IHS Michael worked in various project management roles in the energy sector, as well as in engineering in test and measurement.
