Josefin Berg

Josefin Berg is a senior analyst for the IHS solar research group, where she performs market analysis of trends and strategies in the downstream part of the PV market. Her focus areas include developer strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and the integration of PV in the power generation mix. She authors reports on PV markets and trends, and speaks regularly at industry events.  

Prior to joining IHS, Josefin was an R&D strategy consultant in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies.

She holds an MSc in Environmental Engineering from Uppsala University, Sweden. She speaks English, French, Spanish and Swedish and is based in Barcelona.

Cost pressure and volatile markets continue to challenge EPC companies in the PV industry

On 4 January 2017, German utility RWE’s renewables branch Innogy finalised the acquisition of Belectric, one of the large German providers of solar engineering, procurement, and construction – EPC. The acquisition completes a year of acquisitions and bankruptcies in the solar EPC segment. In India, Tata Power acquired Welspun Renewables Energy.
