Brian O’Rourke

Brian O’Rourke is an analyst in the MEMS and sensors group at IHS Markit, where he has been since 2012. He currently focuses on sensor research within the industrial segment and the Internet of Things (IoT). Previously, he covered consumer electronics and display technologies at the company.

Brian has worked in high-technology market analysis, forecasting, and consulting since the late 1990s, ranging up the value chain from semiconductors to devices to services. Previously, he worked at NPD In-Stat, where he covered numerous topics over 12 years, most recently in wired and wireless device connectivity. Prior to that, he was a senior analyst at Strategies Unlimited, a Mountain View, California-based market analysis firm where he specialized in optoelectronics. 

Brian received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Arts in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
