Daniel Simmons

Mr. Daniel Simmons, executive director at IHS Markit, leads a global team responsible for research on broadband, mobile and video access networks.

Daniel's individual expertise is centered on customer premises equipment markets such as set-top boxes, broadband gateways, content security and all aspects of TV user experience. He is regularly cited in industry press, and he's a frequent speaker at industry events and often acts as a consultant and adviser to leading technology companies.

Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Surrey, UK. He was also awarded an Associateship of the University of Surrey with distinction for undertaking a professional training year with Mitsubishi Electric ITE's Visual Information Laboratory, where he was involved in developing and patenting video processing algorithms.

Broadband World Forum 2018 highlights

Broadband World Forum has finally come of age, celebrating its 18th edition this year in what continues to be the annual meeting point for the broadband industry. Messe Berlin opened its doors to more than 4100 attendees from more than 1500 organisations that gathered to share, learn and promote anything broadband. Historically, Broadband World Forum has been a telco-centric show and that was particularly evident this year. For a market that is purportedly converging, the cable side of the industry was absent as it was busy attending Cable-Tec Expo on the other side of the Atlantic.
