Harold Vargas

Harold Vargas is a member of the US media team that is responsible for coverage of U.S. pay-TV operators and television content owning media conglomerates. Harold is a contributor to the IHS services: U.S. Television Intelligence, and U.S. Cable Network Intelligence.

Since joining IHS in October 2010, Harold has participated in the publication of many articles and reports, as well as participating in several consulting projects. Harold has helped expand coverage of our US Television Intelligence by contributing to the creation and launch of several US Television datasets.

Harold graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.S. in computer science and a minor in mathematics in 2009. Harold has helped bolster the IHS efforts through his programming skills by automating the data collection processes to US Television's relational databases he designed and maintains.

Consolidation continues, Cincinnati Bell buys Hawaiian Telcom

U.S. regional telecom operator, Cincinnati Bell, announced a merger with Hawaiian Telcom for $650 million (including the assumption of debt). The merger will be a big boost to its pay TV segment, which will see IPTV subscribers at Cincinnati Bell jump from 141,000 to a combined 183,771.
