The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region consists of various markets that are diverse in terms of income levels and market characteristics. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets are considered advanced in terms of income levels and higher mobile population penetration rates. GCC markets include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait.

The main mobile trends in MENA markets:

Declining revenue from voice: Specific MENA markets will see the same trends that advanced markets in regions such as Western Europe previously faced, namely declines in mobile voice revenues as consumers turn to data services and messaging.

Growth in mobile data traffic: In recent years, the MENA region has seen an expansion of 4G networks whilst operators have been able to monetize increasing data usage among consumers.

Increased focus on 5G deployments among GCC operators: Various mobile operators within GCC markets are competing with one another to become market leaders in 5G deployments.
