Total consumer spend within the Chinese PC online gaming market was RMB 82.6billion ($12.5billion) in 2018, representing a year-over-year decrease of 6.4% compared to the growth of 3.2% for 2017. This is the first time the Chinese PC online games market has suffered a significant decline, although previously sluggish growth has already indicated a lack of vitality across the PC games industry. This downturn is in line with the expected response to a freeze on issuing publication numbers (ISBNs) for new games.
