In a notice published on May 9, 2019, the U.S. Trade Representative increased the rate of additional duty from 10 percent to 25 percent for the products of China covered by the September 2018 action and USTR proposes a modification of the action being taken in this Section 301 investigation of the acts, policies, and practices of the Government of China related to technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation on May 13. The increased tariff will be directly a burden on the production cost for both manufacturers and retailers. Brands are asking system integrators to find assembly in third-party countries.
