Plume, a whole-home Wi-Fi solutions provider, has launched in the UK. Plume’s hardware at launch includes the tri-band SuperPod and the new dual-band PowerPods; these are additional access points that provide complete Wi-Fi coverage in the home. Two starter packs are currently offered: 1-2 bedroom homes get one SuperPod and two PowerPods for £99 and 3-4 bedroom homes get three SuperPods for £199. Additional hardware can also be purchased for £69 per PowerPod and £99 per SuperPod.

Additional services are provided as part of the Plume membership which costs £99 a year. These services include: Adaptive Wi-Fi, HomePass, advanced parental controls and the new Advanced IoT Protection. Adaptive Wi-Fi is a cloud-based solution that aims to dynamically optimize Wi-Fi connectivity in the home. HomePass allows consumers to set up secure guest connections to their network with varying levels of access. Advanced parental controls allow limitation of Wi-Fi access for children’s devices to specific hours and “time-outs” from Wi-Fi. The Advanced IoT Protection is also being introduced alongside the UK launch. This is an AI powered security service to protect home IoT devices by detecting anomalies in device behaviour and quarantining compromised devices to prevent security breaches spreading across devices in the home network.
