Modern Times Group, which is poised later this month to complete the spin-off of its traditional media properties (to form NENT Group), presented its new incarnation as a gaming and esports company at an investor day in Stockholm yesterday. This followed a similar event for the NENT Group.

Originating as MTGx in 2013, the ‘new’ MTG’s main activities are gaming and esports, which accounted for 57% and 38% respectively of its annual revenues of SKr4 billion ($428 million) in 2018. With the imminent sale of its Bulgarian TV business, MTG will have completed a programme of disposals which it valued yesterday at Skr6.1 billion, of which some Skr4 billion has been ploughed into acquisitions.
