As expected, Nexon’s main growth driver in Q1 was the PC version of Dungeon & Fighter (DNF) in China, thanks to the recent Lunar New Year update during Chinese New Year holiday. Although the update didn’t introduce a new level cap, new characters and fresh dungeons targeting loyal users helped stimulate spend on cosmetic items and upgrade gems. As a result, the game’s performance in China enabled Nexon to enjoy 99.7% quarterly growth from its PC business.

Highlights:

  • PUBG remains popular in Korea but face challenges from the upcoming release of Fortnite
  • Neowiz plans to enhance its presence in overseas market via Bless on Steam
  • Aion's revised monetisation scheme, featuring the removal of subscription fees, generates an influx of new users
