IHS Markit has renamed the categories in its Broadband Media Intelligence TRAX database. The previously named ‘SVoD Subscriptions’ category has now been renamed ‘OTT Subscriptions’. By extension, the revenues and views associated have been renamed ‘OTT Subscription Revenues’ and ‘OTT Subscription Views’ respectively.
The reason for this change is how IHS Markit further categorises these subscribers. IHS Markit classes ‘OTT Subscriptions’ under three primary types, namely Online channels, Multiscreen services and Virtual Pay TV Operators. The previous ‘SVoD Subscriptions’ name was not inclusive of the Virtual Pay TV Operator type owing to the nature of its offerings.
Direct summary of category name alterations:
Previously ⇒ Now
SVoD Subscriptions ⇒ OTT Subscriptions
SVoD Revenues ⇒ OTT Subscription Revenues
SVoD Views ⇒ OTT Subscription Views
SVoD views per subscription ⇒ OTT views per Subscription
SVoD ARPU ⇒ OTT Subscription ARPU
