Last month, at 5G World in London (June 13-15), I chaired the Antenna Evolution Focus Day, which turned out to be extremely well attended with more than 100 people, mostly mobile operators representatives, and nobody was shy. Instead, much food for thought was brought to the discussion by speakers from 3UK, BT/EE, Bell Canada, China Mobile, Elisa, KT, Orange, Telekom Slovenije, TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile), T-Mobile, and Vodafone. Since everybody is operating an LTE-Advanced network with various levels of carrier aggregation, adding new antennas to achieve massive MIMO (Multiple Inputs Multiple Outputs) was the core of the discussion.
