As enterprise applications undergo digital transformation and become increasingly Cloud-centric, network connectivity services must evolve to keep pace. Although there are many types of enterprise connectivity services on the market today, there remains a need for secure and assured services that can provide strict guarantees of latency and availability.

Traditional TDM private line services have long been on the market to provide this type of reliable and dedicated enterprise network connectivity. However, modernized Ethernet and wavelength-based enterprise private line services are now called on to deliver the next generation of higher-speed, low latency, and assured connection performance. With the shift to the Cloud, fast service activation and on-demand service capabilities are now base requirements for network operators competing in the highly competitive networking service market.

This paper explores some of the enterprise applications driving evolution in enterprise network connectivity, the emerging opportunity for modern private line services, and the key requirements that must be addressed for a service provider offering those services. It also includes case studies of service providers that have implemented this architectural approach to address the market for profitable, premium enterprise private line services.
