Makers are expected to ship 1.5 million AMOLED TV panels in 2017 and more than 10 million in 2023. The 65-inches UHD TV panel will be 49% of shipments by 2023. Makers will stop shipping 1920 × 1080 panels in 2017 because they have become less price competitive than LCDs.
The gap between LCD and OLED prices are still high because makers have been able to lower LCD panel prices more easily using larger generation fabs and achieving higher yields than OLED displays. IHS does not expect OLED TV panels to be priced competitively against LCD TV panels anytime soon, unless their production can be made more efficient.
