In November 2016, Samsung announced the acquisition of audio industry stalwart Harman International for $8 billion in cash. The deal is Samsung’s largest acquisition ever, and gives the company instant entry into the OEM in-car entertainment market.

Under the terms of the deal, Harman would continue to operate as a separate subsidiary, retaining its own brand as well as brands under its umbrella such as JBL, AKG, Harmon Kardon, Infinity, Crown Audio, Martin Professional, Mark Levinson, Revel, Becker, and Lexicon.
