This is the seventh edition of the IHS report dedicated to the market for DMR/dPMR, PDT and competing technologies. It reflects the major changes in the global market since 2015; and the continuation of the trend from analogue to digital technologies, in particular the double-digit annual growth of Cost Optimized Digital shipments between 2014 and 2015. Note that the growth of the Cost Optimized Digital market has been stimulated by the availability of multi-tier radio options; which has met the requirements of both lower-end users with budgetary limitations and higher-end users with more capital at their disposal. The growth in supply and demand for these technologies has increased global price competition. Increased demand for Tier III solutions have facilitated growth in Cost Optimized Digital technology, although adoption of Tier III has been slower than anticipated and the majority of growth has come from the demand for DMR Tier II in the majority of regions. Several countries have taken measures to establish LTE networks to support their critical communications networks including South Korea and the United Kingdom; both plan to roll out their respective networks no sooner than 2017.
