On September 26, 2016, Sonus acquired Taqua for $20M cash at close and a provision for additional cash if certain revenue thresholds are exceeded. Sonus has acquired Taqua primarily in order to bring a broader set of products to mobile operators as they migrate to VoLTE and VoWiFi. Though mergers and acquisitions in the service provider VoIP and IMS arena have slowed, there has been a fair amount of speculation around Sonus, GENBAND, and Metaswitch.
