[Display Dynamics] Notebook panel makers reduce 2016 plans by 8%, prices rise

Notebook PC panels have been in oversupply for the past year and prices have fallen. The mainstream 14-inch HD panel with a slim flat LGP (light guide plate) backlight was priced at $37.6 in January 2015 but dropped to $26.8 by April 2016. In 15 months, the price had fallen over 29% or almost 1% per month. Another mainstream model, the 15.6-inch HD panel with a slim flat LGP backlight, was priced at $40.6 in January 2015. By January 2016, it was at $27.3, lower than the 14-inch version, and by April, it was at $26.7.
