The selected mobile messaging apps covered by IHS reached a combined active user base of approximately 4.6 billion, with 6% increase from last quarter. Facebook remained the lead with over 40% of the market share among top apps, combining the total numbers of users from Messenger and Whatsapp.

Facebook Messenger, Kik and Telegram introduce bot and allow developers to build bots inside their messaging platforms, increasing a range of new functions to these messaging apps.
