Verizon has announced a partnership with the city of Boston to replace its copper-based infrastructure with a state-of-the-art fiber-optic network platform. This will support further development of smart city projects in Boston, including Vision Zero, a project targeting traffic safety. Verizon’s partnership with Boston to deploy infrastructure for smart city services is a natural outgrowth of the operator’s efforts to gain traction in the market for provisioning smart cities services in general.
