IHS Technology analysis and commentary on the Q1 2016 Content Security Gateway Appliances, Software, and SaaS Quarterly Market Tracker, which includes data for the quarter ended December 2015, follows.

Analysis

Although the market for traditional messaging and Web and malware security gateways is trending flat to down, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and network advanced threat protection (ATP) are growing aggressively, signaling a shift to new deployment models and solutions that deal directly with unknown threats.

Leading the charge on the ATP side is FireEye, which has a 44 percent share of network ATP revenue in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2015. But major players with diverse security portfolios like Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, Trend Micro and many more are chasing FireEye and beginning to make good progress with their integrated solutions.

As a result, IHS expects the network ATP market to cross the $1 billon-mark in 2016.

More Content Security Market Highlights
