With increasing competition between broadband providers across the globe, operators are looking for new ways to add value and increase revenue from their existing customer bases. Home automation and connected home systems can address these goals in addition to reducing customer churn, enhancing customer satisfaction, encouraging loyalty, and developing brand image. These services make home energy management, security monitoring, and other tasks in the home easier (via smartphone apps, web enabled tools, and purpose-built smart connected devices). To examine the market potential for these services, IHS interviewed service providers who have deployed home automation and connected home services or will by the end of 2016.
