IHS (NYSE: IHS) today reported that worldwide cloud PBX and unified communications (UC) seats grew 29 percent in the first half of 2015 (1H15) from a year ago (1H14).

“Across all regions there’s been strong demand for hosted services, and we are forecasting a 20-percent-plus increase in seats in every region in 2015. North America is the largest market for hosted VoIP and UC services, with 43 percent of all seats in 1H15, followed by Asia Pacific, EMEA and Latin America,” said Diane Myers, research director for VoIP, UC and IMS at IHS.

“Though a large number of small service providers offer hosted PBX and unified communications in North America, many average just over 30,000 seats. Gaining scale is becoming critical for the survival of many of these smaller providers,” Myers said.

BUSINESS CLOUD VOIP MARKET HIGHLIGHTS
