CAMPBELL, Calif. (March 3, 2016) – IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of critical information and insight, today announced the addition of telecommunications industry veteran Heidi Adams to its analyst team. Adams, formerly of telecom equipment companies Nokia and Alcatel-Lucent, joins IHS as Senior Research Director for Transport Networks.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome highly respected industry expert Heidi Adams to the IHS Technology team. We needed to find just the right analyst to carry on our gold-standard optical networking and carrier routing and switching coverage, and I believe we hit the ball out of the park with Heidi,” said J'Amy Stewart, Vice President for Technology at IHS and former CEO of Infonetics, which was acquired by IHS in December 2014.

Michael Howard, Senior Research Director and Advisor for Carrier Networks at IHS and Co-founder of Infonetics, said: “I’ve known Heidi for over 10 years. She brings profound knowledge of IP and optical technologies spanning product management, product marketing and analysis. Her depth and breadth of expertise will be a tremendous benefit to our clients as we continue to expand our coverage to help them address emerging market opportunities.”

Adams will work closely with Howard as she transitions into the lead transport networks analyst role covering optical, routing and switching, including software-defined networking (SDN) and network functions virtualization (NFV) as it relates to transport networking. Michael Howard will then concentrate his research coverage more exclusively on carrier SDN and NFV.

Heidi Adams said: “I’ve worked with the IHS Infonetics team for many years as a telecom equipment vendor and have appreciated the deep and wide industry knowledge they bring to the table and their well-researched, independent and objective approach to analysis and reporting. I’m excited to be joining this very well respected group, and I look forward to leveraging my 20-plus years of experience in the field to work with service providers, enterprises and equipment vendors to bring new insight into the evolution and performance of the routing and optical networking segments.”
