Retail chain Target has announced that it is trialing the deployment of Bluetooth beacons in 50 of its US stores. Users need to have the latest version of Target's mobile app for iOS installed on their device and Bluetooth settings enabled in order to opt-in to receiving content while at one of the participating stores. Stores with beacons installed can be found in Chicago, Denver, Minneapolis, New York City, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle.
