In early 2013, LG Electronics (LGE) launched its first OLED TV model. Since then, LGE has been the sole maker of OLED TVs. Other makers are hesitant to participate. The supply of OLED TV panels is very limited, and they are only commercially available from LG Display at this moment. Its manufacturing cost is known to be pretty high, 4-5 times higher than an LCD TV. Some makers are still not confident in the reliability of OLED TVs. They are afraid of the “burn-in” defect which was a problem with CRT TVs and older PDP TVs.
