Investments in mobile content, services and hardware companies reached a new record in Q2 2014 to pass $8bn in disclosed funding – more than double the previous record set in 2011. It was also a record quarter for mobile M&A activity; IHS tracked116 deals announced throughout the quarter. Google was once again one of the most acquisitive companies – buying businesses across a range of industries to further its expansion. Apple’s $3bn Beats acquisition was one of the most valuable in the quarter.
