On 27 June 2014, a British consortium of 40 technology vendors introduced “HyperCat”, an open specification to help facilitate scalable interoperability in the Internet of Things. HyperCat was developed over the past year with the assistance of £6.4 million ($11.0 million) from the UK Technology Strategy Board, a quasi-governmental organization tasked with facilitating technological innovation in the UK. Organizations participating in the consortium range from established technology firms such as IBM, ARM and BT to start-ups such as 1248.io and Flexeye as well as several British universities and government bodies...
