Earlier this month, Apple announced HomeKit, a new framework for communicating with and controlling connected devices in a user’s home. App developers now have access to the HomeKit APIs, and can get started on creating compatible home control apps with the iOS 8 SDK. Hardware developers are invited to apply for the MFi (Made for iPhone/iPad/iPod) program, enabling them to create and market products that are developed specifically for iPhone, iPad or iPod compatibility.
